Cafe Bar

The Gladiators Of Pain played many places through the years, and the Cafe Bar is the last of the shows archived to DVD. Circa 1993 or so. Only reason it is the last is that none of the other video tapes have been found to make the transition to DVD.

Other places The GOP played during this time period include Club Bene and Pearl Studios. Judging by the quality of this show, they were probably great, but this is all we have to tell. So ultimately this last DVD in the GOP collection closes the chapter, as it shows the band who learned to gig on cover tunes (see earlier DVDs), playing a full show of origional GOP material.

It shows how great the band had become, and how phenominal they could have been.

Battle Of The Bands

The Gladiators Of Pain played two battle of the bands at
Middletown Swim Club. One of these videos is missing, and this DVD is believed to be the second one.

Both these Battle Of The Bands are marred in controversy as anyone who really knows the bands history can attest too. The person running the show didnt like the band because they were too heavy. At the first Battle she yelled at the overwelming crowd support to the GOP to stop cheering in a contest judged by applause. Then awarded the win to another band.

A year later, the second Battle was announced. This time really just to be revengeful, the GOP entered under the name Grand Old Party (still GOP right?). The show was great, the lady running it was not happy by the bands appearance, and a very similiar outcome to who won, again took place.

The Extras

The Gladiators Of Pain played several events at Middletown High School South, since it is there that they got together.
They also did for themselves and were involved in for others a few school projects.

DVD includes two appearences at these High School events, one of the two is on the DVD twice because it was done by two separate cameras for some reason. Being that they both have their pluses and minuses they are both included. Youll also see the sound guy set up. That in itself rocks. Also included are two of these School Projects.

The Fastlanes

GOP Rocks The Fastlanes.

After Behind The Scenes, The Gladiators Of Pain played several times at The Fastlanes in Asbury Park. The owner liked the band and had them there regularly for a few months. Almost too regularly. While keeping the set list in order no new songs were being learned, and the band decided to take a giging break to learn new songs.

Unfortunately of the shows played here, only 2 tapes were found. And one was damaged.

They also turned off the strobbing floor which resulted in a better recording. The club also now had a no moshing rule, unbeknownst to the band.

Extra footage included is the between set antics of fans and fellow Clan members.

The DVD includes the show which has been brightened to try and offset the poor quality of the origional recording. Unfortunately the reason for the poor quality in this instance is the strobbing floor lights of the venue. So its effects are still noticeable.

Extra footage included is the preshow antics of fans and fellow Clan members.
