During the recent Beijing Olympics, the Coca-Cola Company, a major sponsor of the event, launched a series of marketing activities inspired by the theme of Shuang, an expression in Mandarin Chinese that describes a physical and spiritual state of total well-being.
One of the venues for these promotional activities was the Coca-Cola Shuang Experience Center, situated inside the Olympic Village near the National Stadium, the so-called Birds Nest.
Every day the complex hosted a variety of multimedia events celebrating the Olympic spirit and the historical link between the Coca-Cola Company and the Olympics.
The total visibility of the Coca-Cola Shuang Experience Center was guaranteed by an imposing lighting system installed on the buildings roof, comprising 202 DELTA FULL COLOUR B LED colour changers.
The projectors were installed by the company Showtec, following a project developed by the American company Light Switch.
The DELTAs, fitted with Wide Flood lenses, were arranged alongside each other in long lines that crossed the roof of the Coca-Cola Center from side to side.
The lighting design, by Norm Schwab and Glenn Wade, gave priority to a dynamic use of the DELTAs, creating a succession of coloured areas in movement and a range of light effects visible from all over the Olympic Village.
