I want to buy the Nikon D300 is a good camera; Answer me please !!!!!!

this review upset a lot of canon owners, lol, i shoot canon and am contemplating the jump to a d300 myself. canons are great but test results show the d300 smoking the 5d and testing a hair below the 1ds mkIII for lines, and its like 1/4 the price. the d300 is a monster. the one thing the 40d has is its really cheap now and really good still, but the 50d? i wouldnt drop that premium for such minor upgrades. good review.

Comparing the D300 to the 40D really isn't fair as the cameras are not even in the same category. The D300 is a step below the D3 and has many of the functions of it's big brother. It should really be compared to the 5D or the 5D replacement.

Having used both cameras myself there really isn't any comparison as the D300 is just in a different class.

He makes a big deal about the 8fps shooting speed of the D300 compared to "only" 6.5fps of the 40D. What he didn't mention was that you have to buy the battery pack to get the 8fps ... otherwise you get only 6fps.
Even without the battery pack the D300 costs $500 more than the 40D. Add another $260 for the battery pack and now you're talkin over
$2K for the D300 so it really isn't apples to apples.
