Assyrian Youth Federation in Sweden awards the prize of the Assyrian Of The Year to Attiya Gamri at ADO's Akitu-party in Södertälje, Sweden the 4th April.
"When the Assyrian movement established itself in the European Diaspora in the late 1960s and early 1970s, its goal was to raise national awareness through political and socio-cultural activities in order to revive a disrooted Ancient nation. Obviously, this would only be possible through bringing up a new Generation of Assyrians. These youngsters would be educated, goal-conscious and well-integrated ambassadors of their compatriots.
The laureate is brought up within the Assyrian associations in the Netherlands and has been active in basically all the different fields of Assyrian activism since her early youth. Working dedicated for her people, she is a prime example of the modern Assyrian Woman. Her political career is promising.
For having embodied the dream of the first Generation ever since, the Assyrian Youth Federation of Sweden (AUF) awards the prize of the Assyrian of the Year 2008 to Attiya Gamri."
