A classic comedy of manners, class and kitchen sinks from Britains master of satire.
Alan Ayckbourns hilarious, irresistible, dark comedy classic concerning three married couples over three Christmas
Eves. The social-climbing Hopcrofts in their gadget filled kitchen; the relationship troubled Jacksons in their
neglected fourth floor flat; and the laconic Brewster-Wrights in their Victorian style home. Add a mad-dog, a faulty
oven and some inappropriate party games and the result is classic Ayckbourn at his very best.
Ensemble Theatres last Alan Ayckbourn production was four of the Intimate Exchanges series in 2000 at the SBW
Independent Theatre. The 2009 production of Absurd Person Singular has already proved to be so popular that it has
been extended twice beyond its original schedule.
Director Andrew Doyle has assembled a stellar cast for this wonderful Christmas comedy.
Octavia Barron-Martin (Jane Hopcroft) has been directed twice before at Ensemble by Andrew Doyle in Vincent
in Brixton and Losing Louis, her recent music theatre credits include Fiddler on the Roof, The Hatpin and Little
Women and she appeared in the films Looking for Alibrandi and Romulus, My Father.
Danielle Carter (Eva Jackson) has appeared for Ensemble in Face to Face and The Quartet From Rigoletto and
she has more than 30 film and tv roles to her credit including the two Underbelly series, Satisfaction and
Something in the Air.
Teo Gebert (Sidney Hopcroft) has appeared in Men of Honour, The Quartet From Rigoletto, Waiting Rooms,
Mixed Emotions and The Heartbreak Kid at Ensemble and amongst many tv and film roles he also appeared in
Underbelly and has been a regular presenter for ABC TVs Playschool.
Belinda Giblin (Marion Brewster-Wright) is best known for her ongoing roles in The Box, The Sullivans, Sons
and Daughters and Skyways. She appeared for Ensemble in Noises Off and recently completed a national tour of
John Mistos The Shoe Horn Sonata with Maggie Kirkpatrick.
Barry Langrishe (Ronald Brewster-Wright) has more than 50 tv and film credits to his name and for Ensemble,
has appeared in Face to Face and Daylight Saving.
Mark Owen-Taylor (Geoffrey Jackson) was last directed by Andrew Doyle for Ensemble in Stella By Starlight and
also appeared at Ensemble in Life Support and Educating Rita. Mark recently played multiple roles in Just
Macbeth for Bell Shakespeare. Mark has more than 40 tv and film credits to his name, he first came to our attention
in A Country Practice and has also been a regular presenter on ABCs Playschool.
