DOC looks after NZ's national parks, Great Walks and marine reserves and protects rare species such as kiwi, kakapo, tuatara and kauri and the unique ecosystems they call home.

DOC maintains a network of tracks, huts, campsites and historic areas, providing for walking, hunting, mountain biking, sightseeing and many other activities.
