Sonic has light dash and homing attack. To use Light dash, press A near a mass of rings. You should know how to use homing attack. Just double jump. Shadow can use Homing attack but he has to be close to a target for it to be activated otherwise he does a Super jump. You can switch characters by going to the options menu on the title screen.
