Known also as Dragon Slayer Jr., Romancia is third entry in Falcom's Dragon Slayer series. Like most games in the series, it was initially published for PC-8801. However, it received also versions at least for MSX/MSX2 (which added princess as hidden playable character) and Famicom/NES as well as remake for Windows called Romancia - Another Legend. Although MSX and MSX2 versions (and presumably Another Legend) remained true to PC8801 version, the version for Famicom had various changes with both added and removed content.
While the game wasn't officially released outside Japan, the version for Famicom received fanmade translation patch in 2008. Not content with just translating the text, the team behind patch also fixed various bugs, added optional features and made improvements to the script (such as added clarity). This translation patch is also the first known instance of Famicom/NES game using fully implemented variable-width font.
While Romancia is (especially with patch and its improvements) quite entertaining game, it is also quite challenging and player is largely expected to find out about things and solutions on his/her own.

UPDATE: For some reason the quality suffered during conversion more than in my previous Famicom/NES videos. While I used the same codec, I had somewhat different settings. I may run some tests in order to possibly improve the quality and upload better versions of these three videos.
