Leading Dover -- France ferry operator, DFDS Seaways sponsored a unique brass band contest in February 2012. 15 brass bands from all over Europe competed for a £5,000 winning prize -- and a recording contract.

The Worlds Biggest Russian Dumpling

These videos give you an insight into the record breaking creation of the worlds largest potato dumpling! The DFDS Seaways' Chefs got together with catering students from K College in Folkestone on the 4th March 2011 in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record to make the biggest Russian potato dumpling, known as 'Pierogi', one of their most popular national dishes. The previous record was held by the Polish city of Lublin where a 71.15kg potato dumpling was made in 2005. Needless to say our heroes were triumphant and a HUGE dumpling weighing in at 94kg is now the proud record owner! The event was a fun way to celebrate and say thank you to the growing number of Eastern European passengers travelling on board DFDS Seaways over the English Channel on the prime Dover - Dunkirk route.
