Video was shot outside my back patio on May 18, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was mostly cloud to cloud lightning. As monsoon season approaches, I will be able to get much better footage. I used my Kodak Easyshare M1093 IS 720p HD camera to capture this storm on video (1280 x 720 @ 30fps) and then I slowed down the playback speed with my computer to view the lightning bolts in slow motion.

Monzanoman and I are cooking up soup for lunch on our way up to Manzano Peak in the Manzano Mountains. This video demonstrates the use of a Trangia alcohol stove in a high elevation backpacking type enviroment. I usually just use my snow peak giga power stove, which performs just fine in a high elevation enviroment, but I wanted to test the Trangia alcohol stove to see how well they do.. turns out they work just fine! My cook kit is customized but is all made by snow peak except the folding fork and spoon. Fuel used: methyl alcohol. "HEET" is the brand name. Its in the YELLOW container (not the red container) in the automotive section at walmart or other stores. You can also use denatured alcohol which works the best but not AS EASY to find... The BlastMatch from Ultimate Survival Technologies. This video quickly demonstrates lighting a campfire using the BlastMatch and some dry moss picked off the Northern sides of trees in the area. Campfire was made in the Sawtooth Mountains just outside of Datil, New Mexico and the Continental Divide @ 8300 FT April 22, 2009. Campfire wood used was pinion.
