Contrive was formed by twin brothers Paul and Andrew Haug in 1999.
Released self-financed debut EP in 2001 titled Finally (now out of print).
2002 saw the band tour extensively including supports with MAYHEM (Nor) & DESTRUCTION (Ger).
2003 released the self-financed Prosper EP (+ CDRom) to solid reviews abroad.
Lots more touring, sharing stages with SEPULTURA, SOILWORK, and SKINLAB etc.
Late 2004 entered the studio to commence recording the debut album titled The Meaning Unseen, plus securing a support slot with MACHINE HEAD in October.
2005, the self-managed, unsigned band utilised the services of infamous Metal Producer Fredrik Nordstrom in Sweden to mix the album.
Fredrik, known for his impeccable work with ARCH ENEMY, OPETH, DIMMU BORGIR and the like, delivered stunning results that can be heard on the debut album The Meaning Unseen.
In 2007 they supported STONE SOUR.
In February 2009 they embarked on a tour of Bangkok, Thailand which saw them perform 4 shows including a show with PARKWAY DRIVE.
July 2009 the band hit the studio to record their second full length album The Internal Dialogue.
Late 2009 they were personally chosen by members of OPETH to support them on their Australian Tour.
In 2010 Contrive completed their second album titled The Internal Dialogue which was mixed by DEVIN TOWNSEND in Vancouver, Canada.
In March 2010 they toured Australia Nationally with DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT.
The brand new album THE INTERNAL DIALOGUE was released July 2nd 2010 via MGM Distribution.
Late August the band supported Bay Area Thrashers TESTAMENT on their Australian Tour.
