I can accept most of what you suggest with absolutely no problem, I have no religious beliefs at all (although I'm not anti-religious) so recognising Ireland's largely Catholic society is not a problem, I am a also strong believer in protecting and promoting our native languages (like Irish, Scots Gaelic and Welsh), under the system I propose the state administration in England would be powerless outside of it's borders.

As for British and Irish history, I hate bias, in either direction (Besides, Michael Collins is one of my favourite historical figures, a true hero of the 20th century), and finally, her Maj and the Monarchy, I could abolish peerages etc. with no tears shed whatsoever, but I'm a committed constitutional monarchist, perhaps Liz could remain as a figurehead, but cease to be head of state (as in Japan and Sweden) and the trappings of the monarchy retained purely as tradition.

I believe the only solution to the Irish peace problem is a compromise, I would of course advocate peaceful discussion with all sides of the divide to work out exactly what sort of compromise could and should be achieved, my personal preference would be a federation of both main islands of the British isles although I wouldn't mind if the Kingdom of Ireland was re-established (Although with much more independence from the Crown that it previously had) and chose to associate itself with the British mainland through the Commonwealth of Nations.

The division and terrorism in Northern Ireland was caused by bigotry, nothing more, on BOTH sides. I'm the first to admit that the sectarian violence was triggered by extreme protestants sidelining catholics. If Northern Ireland hadn't chosen to opt out of the Irish Free State in 1922 there would probably have still been terrorism and religious bigotry (Eire's transformation into a republic in 1949 would probably have triggered it)

Correct in one sense, this country doesn't have a single document called a constitution, but we do have a constitution of sorts, based on Common Law, the Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights of 1689 etc.
