Do you have any idea why some people get to have these experiences? Is there anything which somehow increases the probability of having an NDE?

For chuaherazade: There is no explanation for why some people experience a near-death state at the point of death and others do not. In the medical setting, the figures are between 12 to 20%. Overall, in the general population in most countries in the world, the figure is between 4 to 5%. That means most people do not experience these states. Yet it happens often enough and has been verified enough times, that we can no longer deny the phenomenon or the power it has to both shake people up and change lives, and I would include both adults and children in that statement.
