Anonymous is a religious cult owing its origins to underground image boards. Anonymous worships the Internet as a deity. Amongst the primary rituals of the cult Anonymous are actions directed at specific targets meant to generate revulsion and drama from those targets. These actions are done for the "lulz" - a form of hypnotic laughter that can be likened to charismatic Christians speaking in tongues.
