If you love beautiful music, please subscribe. Music from the early 1900's up to the '50's, with an emphasis on the 1950's.
Come along with me as we take a musical journey . I started with a few recordings from 1901 and have been continuing mostly chronologically, featuring the artists and songs of the early 1900's, through the teens, '20's, '30's, '40's and I'm now up to the '50's. In fact, from now on, this will be a 1950's channel in which I travel through each year of the decade one at a time. If you love '50's music, you may want to subscribe! Relive the great songs of yesteryear!
Watch the paragraph below this one to find out what I am currently featuring.
Currently featuring the music of 1959.
In the playlists section, you will find many of the songs I've posted grouped by year of recording.
IMPORTANT, PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE FOLLOWING: Please read my descriptions as I spend a fair amount of time writing them and trying to make them interesting. Information and trivia about the songs, artists and recordings is included quite frequently, along with chart statistics and my own personal comments on occasion. The descriptions can currently be found underneath the videos. Click "Show more" under the video to read the full description.
Also, I have often included original Billboard reviews and ratings (dating from the time of each record's release) in the descriptions for the 1950's postings.
Hi, my name is Tom. I have a large collection of recordings and will be sharing some of them with you on here. This site is a tribute to some of my favourite records and artists.
A NOTE ABOUT CHART STATISTICS: Before the 1930's, official music charts detailing the top selling records did not exist. However, music trade publications would include notices from record companies mentioning popular records, and other information that could be used to estimate a recording's popularity. As a result, modern researchers have worked hard in combing through data of record sales, notices concerning popularity, and other historical artifacts from music publications to discern where the records of pre-1930 would have likely charted if official charts had existed. The chart statistics that I report for pre-1930 records use this data compiled by music experts. I feel it is interesting and important to use this data in my descriptions to give the listener a feel for how popular the songs, artists and recordings of the time were.
I don't generally take requests, so please just enjoy what I decide to post.
