Neighborhoodcenters: Thanks and keep up the good work.
Chsn09: Not really, Fenty's father is a Black man whose family is from Panama, his mother is a White woman. Mayor Fenty is mixed but he values his African American heritage.

Carlos I have a question. My parents come from Ecuador, now you would think they are indians, but my mom is very white, blonde hair, and my dad is just the typical 'white' w/black hair dark features then it comes down to me, which im considered white w/very dark blonde/brown hair. In Ecuador im considered white but in the US im considered a 'latino/hisp' as if I was a different race. My mom is very white, blonde, my dad typical white but he has that 'latino look.' So where do i fall into?

Hey Carlos, good videos. I have met Gaudencio Fernandez before, I am from Manassas, Virignia. I am a white american and I saw people need to be proud of their roots and know them to make things better in the world. Good work, because people who are of indigenous roots need to be proud of themselves.

Hey Carlos great videos, keep representing for your people. The confusion surrounding Race, Ethnicity, Culture, and Nationality is astounding. America is a very race based country, which struggles with the groups of people which they like to classify as Hispanic/Latino, because they don't fit neatly into the structured racial groups, so they try to make them a racial group by only focusing on a certain type of look. It seems that all people have fallen victim to the system of pigmentocracy, where people believe that having lighter skin is better than having darker skin. Eurocentric brainwashing has allowed many so called Hispanic/Latino people to down play their Indigenous, and African heritage, especially in America because black is look on so negatively. I also think its time for the so called Hispanic/Latino's to examine the racism towards Blacks within their own culture which they keep trying to say doesn't exist, but is so clear to many.

Carlos, thank you for your work and for sharing it with all of us. Your video on how we are neither hispanic nor latino sums up perfectly why I have a problem with questionnaires that ask me to identify myself as such. How can we deny our heritage like that? And about Leonard Peltier... I can't believe that this country would hold a man prisoner without concrete evidence, the President needs to do the right thing. I am a student in the DC area... do you think you could let me know of ways to get involved in community activism? Maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places, but this is the first time I'm hearing someone talk so passionately about the issues that are important to me. Thanks again! -Maria
