Gold fuming is one of the easiest and most dramatic ways to add sophistication and color to your work. It's a fairly inexpensive way to create custom intensities of gold pink without reduction. You'll see how easy and how much fun this process is, as well as learning the proper flame settings for this process. Fuming vaporizes metal and deposits it on the surface of your glass. It can also deposit it elsewhere...like in your lungs. Use Adequate Ventilation!! This is an excerpt from our DVD "All That Glitters" sponsored by the Carlisle School of Glass Art. Go to www.firelady.com to see a description of the many other techniques we've documented, or to buy the DVD. Want to see more of Lisa's work? You can find it at www.glassbeads.com.

Shane Fero is a mystical man of fire! Shane's sophisticated color palette is created by rolling molten glass in subsequent layers of powders. This movie is an excerpt from our new DVD, "Fire in Flight", available at www.firelady.com. With an elegant and insightful introduction by Paul Stankard, you'll discover a bit about Shane's history, his working style, and the influences that inspire him.
You'll get an excellent lesson in PULLING POINTS, a necessary skill for beginning most blown work. It can be tricky, but you'll see it close up and personal and get a few "pointers" along the way.
Like it? You can see the birth of the bird in it's entirety by purchasing the DVD. www.firelady.com

Making simple murrine is easier than you might think. In this tutorial, Lauri uses soft Italian rods to create a star murrine cane. The same technique would be used for boro, which Lauri frequently works in as well. She begins by heating opaque white glass and popping it into an optic mold. Then she encases it with a contrasting color and draws it out. This is an excerpt from her DVD, "All Fired Up," sponsored by the Carlisle School of Glass Art. Murrine are rewarding to make, they just take a little practice...and a lot of patience! Like what you see? You can learn more techniques, in both soft glass and boro, by buying the DVD, available at www.firelady.com
