Geriatric Care Managers (GCMs) are health and human services specialists who help families care for older relatives, while encouraging as much independence as possible. Trained in any of a number of fields (including nursing, gerontology, social work, or psychology), GCM's have a specialized focus on issues related to aging and elder care. As a guide and advocate, the GCM identifies problems and offers solutions, from assessment of an aging parent's needs to addressing the life change of a family affected by Alzheimer's Disease or other symptoms of dementia.
NAPGCM currently has a membership of more than 2,000 care managers. For more information please visit www.caremanager.org or call 520.881.8008.
