Since this video finally hit 1,000,000 views I decided to just delete the video with the mistakes and make this the only one.
~~~~~~~~~ I remembered black skies The lightning all around me I remembered each flash As time began to blur Like a startling sign That fate had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes Give me reason To fill this hole Connect the space between Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies Across this new divide
There was nothing in sight But memories left abandoned There was nowhere to hide The ashes fell like snow And the ground caved in Between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes Across this new divide
In every loss In every lie In every truth that you'd deny And each regret And each goodbye Was a mistake too great to hide
And your voice was all I heard That I get what I deserve
So give me reason To prove me wrong To wash this memory clean Let the floods cross the distance in your eyes
Give me reason To fill this hole Connect the space between Let it be enough to reach the truth that lies Across this new divide Across this new divide Across this new divide
FRED ASTAIRE in SMOOTH CRIMINAL Starring Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Leslie Caron Choreographed by Michael Kidd 'Smooth Criminal' by Michael Jackson Video edited by CFJ
Here's a high quality version of the video that I posted over a year ago. It was the first of my MJ trilogy videos, made on March 2008. It got about 450,000 views in 14 months.
I don't know whether MJ had ever watched this, but I wished that he would see it on YouTube and just smile... which would have been definitely my biggest pleasure.
Some things I wanted to say by this video are:
1) Fred Astaire was such a great dancer and he could dance beautifully to every type of music... even to a MJ song.
2) MJ is not an originator but such a great successor who inherits various musical legacies and creates his own style.
We must always learn the history. And now, the next generation must go on just like him.
May you dance in peace with Astaire, MJ. I will adore you, always.
Fred Astaire in Smooth Criminal (LQ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gB0UN... More about Astaire's influence on MJ: http://strongerthanparadise.blog122.f...
The following is the original description I wrote for the video. -------------------------------------
I love both Astaire and Michael Jackson. I want young people to know Astaire stuff, that is why I made this. The video features scenes from the Girl Hunt ballet in The Band Wagon (1953) starring Astaire and Cyd Charisse (those supreme legs!! The most perfect body a woman could have. So sensual, so elegant), to which MJ gave homage in his Smooth Criminal vid (also in a performance of Get Happy on the Jacksons show in the 70s as well as You Rock My World in 2001), and, as an intro, a sequence from Daddy Long Legs (1955) featuring Leslie Caron (in motion pictures, you mustn't put a coin into a jukebox in an ordinary way!).
My initial idea was using also Yolanda And The Thief (1945) where Astaire appeared with the same costume, a white suit, hat and a blue shirt, but I eventually omitted it.
Michael Kidd worked with Janet in the Alright vid in 1990, featuring Cyd Charisse (in the red dress!), the Nicholas Brothers and Cab Calloway.
If you want to see Astaire at the top of his game, watch his '30s and early '40s films. -------------------------------------
Please watch in High Quality.
This is a Tribute to the Chaos Space Marines of the Warhammer 40,000 world.
The music used is Rage from the Quake II soundtrack - I used this specific track because it matched the anger and brutality of the Chaos Space Marines.
Oh and one last thing, turn those speakers right up!
Thanks to -
Games Workshop. GUNFLASH22 for his inspiration. Sonic Mayhem for this hellish track.
Enjoy.
This is the alternate fan sequence I made for the DVD version of the Gremlins 2 "film break" scene. I made it alone, in a two months period, with (computer-enhanced) puppets I re-created for this project.
WATCH THE MAKING OF ON YOUTUBE !!!
—————————————————
MORE INFO:
WHAT IS IT?
In the middle of the movie Gremlins 2, there is a sequence where the film seems to break, and where the gremlins invade the projection booth. For the VHS edition in the early 90's, they reshot a special sequence where the VHS tape seemed to be torn apart and in which the gremlins invaded a John Wayne movie. The DVD just kept the original theatrical version. This is the alternate sequence I made, supposed to replace the theatrical one on the DVD.
HOW IS IT MADE?
The creatures effects are all made with puppets. I made a new mold out of a hard cast of one of the original sculptures from the production. I created a batch of new foam puppets especially for this project. Their performances are enhanced by computer effects, which makes them able to do nearly anything, from running to jumping or facial expressions. The entire shooting takes place in a bluescreen studio, arranged in my basement, in order to superimpose the gremlins in the chosen movies.
WHO AM I ?
Sacha Feiner - I am a movie and animated movie director, special effects creator and sculptor, in Brussels. I made several short films, documentaries, and cartoons; I also work as a graphist. In 2007 and 2008, I made an animated series and recut trailers that were played at the BRUSSELS INTERNATIONAL FANTASTIC FILM FESTIVAL (largest genre festival in Europe), before each screening.
WHY THIS PROJECT?
I have been a gremlins fan since I saw the first movie as a kid and it has always been my dream to be part of such a project. I own one of the largest Gremlins collections in the world; tons of merchandising products and several original screen-used props. I am truly passionated with these creatures (and their movies), as well as with special effects. I am lucky enough to be able to afford the whole making of something like this, entirely written, produced and directed by me.
HOW LONG AND HOW MUCH?
The whole production was two months long. It has been finished on 15th july, 2008. This is a fan, non profit project. I did everything alone, from the filming to the compositing. I only had assistants for the puppeteering. The overall budget, including the purchasing of the original sculpture, the HD and studio equipment, the molding and painting of the puppets and the editing, was about US $3000. This is also an answer to something Joe Dante said in an interview, when the journalist asked why they did not shoot any new alternate sequence for the DVD edition: "I guess there was no budget"! Indeed, the purpose is also to show that it is possible to render a professional, entertaining and well done sequence for... nearly nothing.
