14th BRADFORD INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
FEBRUARY 29 -- MARCH 15 2008. Since its inception in 1995, Bradford International Film Festival (BIFF) has attracted some of the very best in new cinema while presenting an array of vintage classics from the vaults. The Festival includes the annual Shine Award, highlighting the work of new and up-and-coming filmmakers as well as the perennially popular Widescreen Weekend which draws large format film aficionados from all around the world with the National Media Museum's ability to show every film format up to and including 3-strip Cinerama and IMAX.

Dick Carruthers is a multi awardwinning director of live concerts and concert DVDs. He is also the producer/director of the groundbreaking 2003 Led Zeppelin DVD set. He will discuss the artistic and technical challenges of selectively unleashing and showcasing the myth that is Led Zeppelin and reveal the challenges of directing last year's reunion gig. Followed by The Song Remains The Same, featuring the Zeps in epic form.

Also showing as part of the Widescreen Weekend are digitally-restored 70mm prints of classics The Great Escape and 2001: A Space Odyssey. More details on the Widescreen Weekend can be found here:

As part of the Widescreen Weekend we show Star!, a spectacular compendium of the best of 20th century popular music as well as an excellent rags-to-riches story. Also showing as part of that event, The Sand Peebles (1966) showcases the singular talents of Steve McQueen and Richard Attenborough.
