About Me:
Welcome to the Midwest's largest railfan channel. Most of the videos you see are well, from the Midwest, mainly Chicagoland. I try to keep the videos I upload basic. That means no fancy editing, special effects, etc. Just high-quality rail videos showing the trains as they are, how I saw them. Who ever said there was anything wrong with keeping it real???
Cameras I use: Sony HDR-SR500V Handycam Sony HDR-SR5 Handycam Sony DSC-T10 Canon Digital Rebel XS SLR

The follow-up vid consists of everything on the CN/EJ&E. CN might be in charge, but their new operations are no where near boring. Today was the busiest I've ever seen the old EJ&E trackage in the Pine area. The NS and CSX lines were also very busy so if you havn't already, watch the previous footage also made today.
8:35AM- Here's a meet I've been waiting to see since I first went to Pine. The "Line Train" or whatever CN calls it has orange power today. Not only did this job have EJ&E power assigned, but the L99191 Pine Job did too. Both jobs meet at their respective Clark Rd. crossings. EJ&E SD38-2 #675 CN SD40-2W #5338
EJ&E SD38-2 #656
8:37AM- EJ&E #656 was going back to the lead to switch onto the track where the cut of cars going back to Kirk is. Now it proceeds back forward.
9:06AM- SVGX SW1200RS #1343 makes a rare appearance on the L51491 this morning. Owned by a company called Savage Inc, this unit is leased to industries. EJ&E SD38-2 #668
9:24AM- The R99291 Curtis Job returns with a large cut of cars from the CSXT. Some came in on the Y123 this morning. They take the City Line back to the main then from there Kirk Yard where it passes over Clark Rd. again. CN GP9rm #7030
9:42AM- After waiting for the R99192, R99191 finally gets permission to go back into Kirk Yard.
10:09AM- In the days of welded rail and concrete ties, the old jointed-rail CN/EJ&E City Line appears ancient. Some CSX light power out of Kirk Yard heads to Curtis to power a coal/coke train later. CSXT SD70MAC #4798 CSXT AC4400CW #47
12:41PM- A light CSX SD40-2 chugs out of Curtis, up the City Line. CSXT SD40-2 #8452
12:45PM- As if I hadn't caught enough good stuff today, L51391, a job that works around East Chicago and Whiting returns early today with the one of a kind yellow SW leading. EJ&E SW1001 #446 IC SW14 #1497
12:54PM- The light SD40-2 now proceeds into Kirk Yard Limits.

Lots of trains rolled under the dreary Gary skies this morning and even though there was sporadic rain, I still was out. I compiled so much footage today that I have to make it into two videos! Make sure you view the following video featuring CN/EJ&E footage around the Pine area.
8:25AM- A manifest that left Chicago earlier this morning now hits Pine at track speed. NS SD70M-2 #2670 BNSF C44-9W #740
8:40AM- Inbound Amtrak Lake Shore Limited 49 travels into Pine at it's expected time. P42DC #68 P42DC #124
8:41AM- Three ex-UP SD40-2s go along for the ride on an Eastbound CSX manifest. Could these units be going to LTE? CSXT AC4400CW #70 CSXT ES44DC #5327
9:17AM- A stacktrain of mostly domestic containers lumbers on for Chicago with a four-pack of power. NS C40-9W #9617 NS C40-8W #8440 NS C40-9 #8713 NS C40-9W #9691
9:40AM- This container intermodal travels enroute to Chicago with UP power to boot. NS C40-9W #9323 UP SD70M #4750
9:56AM- The daily coil train runs empty to ArcelorMittal at Indiana Harbor to be loaded. Looks like the EMD power will lead back. NS C40-9W #9378 NS SD70M #2596
10:42AM- Amtrak Blue Water 365 is running with some different power today. NPCU #90225 P42DC #128
11:03AM- A pair of BNSF Pumpkins take a loaded coal drag East with trackage rights. BNSF ES44AC #6283 BNSF AC4400CW #5649
11:15AM- After stopping to wait for clearance ahead, this UP coal drag returns empty going West. UP ES44AC #7786 CSXT AC4400CW #109
11:21AM- The Phase III is back! After not seeing this guy for about two months, NPCU #90219 leads the Pere Marquette 371 at track speed. Catch these two while you can before Amtrak repaints them! P42DC #126
11:44AM- A clean CSXT #7340 leads the Y157 intermodal hotshot West. CSXT C40-8W #7340 CSXT C40-8W #7751
12:04PM- The Y123 job finished up early today and now returns West with a big cut of cars. CSXT GP38-2 #2784
12:07PM- This Eastbound intermodal picks up more speed after advancing around the curve West of here. Whats that Dash-8W doing with a K5H? CSXT C40-8W #7723 CSXT ES44DC #5343
12:24PM- Two trains on the parelleling NS and CSX mainlines run alongside each other. I have never seen a CSX ACe leading before. Looks like one escaped from it's usual turf of the East. CSXT SD70ACe #4848 CSXT ES44DC #5425
12:38PM- One of the regular CP run through intermodals headed West. CP AC4400CW #9625 CP AC4400CW #9657
12:40PM- Power for this short Eastbound hotshot and the CP run through meet by the EJ&E/CN bridge. NS C40-9W #9257 NS C40-8W #8430
12:55PM- Power for a train sitting in Pine Yard arrives in the form of two standard cab Dash-9s. Despite their tattered appearence, these units sound awesome when idling. They soon switch from the main onto the lead where they meet Amtrak Wolverine 352 and continue on to couple up with their train. NS C40-9 #8721 NS C40-9 #8792
P42DC #28 P42DC #35
1:10PM- Time for a three train meet- The coil train is now loaded and returns with the SD70M in the lead. It meets what I think is a crewless 33G (which was sitting in the yard since I arrived) and the Spartan Cab GEs about to take a freight East. NS SD70M #2596 NS C40-9W #9378

So I find out in the morning that there are not one, but TWO BL2s on their way through Chicagoland on CN train 336. Unfortunately the train didn't arrive until after dark, but I set up near a well-lit baseball park on the IHB in LaGrange for a video.
Janesville & Southeastern 52 and Bangor & Aroostook 56 are headed from the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay, WI to the Arizona Eastern Railway. They're going to be restored and used to haul a tourist train in Arizona. Both units were built for the Bangor & Aroostook in 1948 or '49 as #552 and #556. In-transit, they have been given the reporting marks MRLX.
Incidentally, on their route down the Harbor Belt, they passed within a few hundred feet of EMD, where they were built 60 years ago!

~PLEASE COMMENT!!~ CRAZY BUSY ACTION ON THE BNSF CHILLICOTHE SUBDIVISION! MANY GREAT CATCHES! 11/12/2009
I wasn't even to my first location when I heard the dispatcher talking to a westbound at Pequot. The westbound was going to stop in Verona to meet an eastbound. Here, three BNSF Dash 9's lead the westbound through a pair of crossbucks in between Coal City and Mazon.
It didn't take the eastbound long to get to Mazon as it flies by, doing every bit of the track speed, considerably quicker than the posted roadway speed limit. What a leader! BNSF 8244, one of the eight still in service SD75M's is in charge, followed by a BNSF Dash 9. Got to love that EMD roar.
The cool leaders continue as a westbound Herzog Rail Testing truck meets the eastbound high priority manifest from Galesburg, Illinois to Selkirk, New York (H GALSEL), which is led by a CSX Dark Future SD70MAC and a CSX YN2 AC4400CW.
Off to Verona I go as the trains just keep on coming. As soon as I got my stuff set up, a westbound came around the corner. This one is a stack train out of LPC, powered by four BNSF Dash 9's (two up front and two DPU's at the rear). The train passes under one of the classic ATSF cantilevers in town.
Shortly after, another westbound appeared. It was the daily UP autorack train from Hammond, IN., powered by a UP SD9043MAC. A UP SD70ACe is at the rear.
Not even a minute after the westbound cleared, an eastbound headlight came into view from a ways away. I relocated to a location a little further east to get this one. Still located in Verona. This stack train is rolling right along, bound for LPC. Six units total on this one (four BNSF Dash 9's up front and a BNSF ES44DC/Dash 9 combo at the rear).
I made it into town (Verona) about three minutes later. Another eastbound was fast approaching. Thankfully, I had enough time to set up. Five units (a pair of BNSF ES44DC's and three BNSF Dash 9's) highball this stack train towards the windy city.
Wow, they just keep on rolling through. Right behind the last eastbound is an autorack train heading east, destined for LPC. From a far distance, I could tell there was a Santa Fe leading. What better place to film it than at one of the ATSF cantilevers in Verona. Classic scene right here! Trailing are a pair of BNSF Dash 9's and a BNSF ES44DC.
Yet another eastbound was right behind the Santa Fe. A stack train rolls along, powered by six BNSF Dash 9's. Filmed in between Kinsman and Verona.
Unbelievably so, right after the eastbound went out of sight, a westbound slowly came into sight. This stack train from Chicago is powered by three BNSF Dash 9's. Filmed just west of downtown Verona (if you call it downtown!)
In Kernan, I saw an eastbound way far away. Three BNSF Dash 9's and a BNSF ES44DC lead this intermodal towards Willow Springs. I love how you can still hear the horn as the train is miles away.
Now, on the outer edges of Streator, an eastbound appeared. A BNSF Dash 9 and a BNSF ES44DC power this stack train under the pair of classic ATSF signal bridges.
Next, I was off to the Route 23 overpass in Streator. A westbound intermodal crosses over from Main 2 to Main 1, powered by three BNSF ES44DC's and a BNSF SD70ACe.
At M.P. 97.1, in between Toluca and Ancona, we see a westbound intermodal making its way through the open. A BNSF ES44DC and three BNSF Dash 9's are in charge.
Now, in Ancona, the Q NYCLAC was next up, powered by a pair of NS C40-9W's and a veteran NS C40-9.
As the gates were going down in Streator, the driver of the SUV thought that it would be a really great idea to hurry across. In the process, he/she came close to the gate coming down on them. Three BNSF ES44DC's and a pair of BNSF Dash 9's are in charge of this Willow Springs bound intermodal.
How's this for luck? The NS Kankakee Line sees one train a day (if everyday) and it's a little B11 local. He had apparently been sitting in town the entire time I was at the diamonds for the last eastbound. As I was leaving, I heard him calling the BNSF dispatcher, looking for permission to cross the BNSF. Had it not been for that scanner conversation, I'd have missed the train. The NS local slowly heads east with a really nice EMD lash-up. NS GP40-2's 3051 and 3028, along with NS GP38-3 5809 are in charge. Cool horn as well! After he passed, I hopped into the car and made it to the wye in town and got him again.
I was nearing Kernan, as I saw a westbound light appear. Three BNSF Dash 9's slowly lead a stack train.
Now, in Verona, a westbound appeared. This stacker is moving right along, powered by a pair of BNSF Dash 9's.
Now, in Coal City, an eastbound intermodal highballs through town, powered by a BNSF ES44DC, a BNSF Dash 9 and an oddly placed BNSF GP38-2.
The westbound L CHI102 was next up at Coal City, powered by a BNSF B40-8W and the SD40-2 duo.
Been busy as hell man, college, bullshitting, taking Amtrak home to see the girl, fanning, yea I've been doin a lot. The internet in my dorm is just about the definition of SHIT, so I've barely been on the tube, considering it takes me about two days to load one of your vids haha.
Never got a chance to ask, its been more than a month, Black Gives Way to Blue? What do you think? I love it personally.
Are you a member of the Illini Rail List? Because your name keeps popping up about TRESSPASSING on RR property and doing stupid stuff thats giving railfans a bad name. Thank you.
i love them all lol.
keep up the great work.
