This song was recorded and video shot solely for the purpose of Taylor
Swifts "Fearless" contest. We felt that to truly honor Taylor's new CD
and give justice to her music, we would have to make the best cover we
could over the two weeks from when we heard of the contest.
The project took us a little over two weeks from start to finish. It
took me roughly five days to make a basic template of her version of the
song and build a track around it. I imported it into Cubase SX3, then
used a metronome to figure out the tempo. I began building with drums,
followed by bass line... and so on.
Our version is an attempt at a replica of "You're not sorry" down to
every instrumental nuance I could pick off her CD.
Among other things, one thing I noticed missing is a tambourine in the chorus :)
Included are the following Instruments:
Piano
Violin 1
Violin 2
Violin 3
Drum Kit
Marching Snare drum kit
Bass guitar(tuned down 6 string)
High Gain Electric Guitar
Cello(I used my guitar for these sounds)
In the video, we shot in three different locations in Santa Barbara
California. Although the overall theme was a little on the serious side,
we had an absolute blast recording and shooting this video- I hope you enjoy what we've put together for you, Taylor.
All of this was recorded by myself, Devon. I used all my own equipment and recorded all the sounds with a Presonus Firepod and a variety of condenser mics. Furthermore, we recorded it in my bedroom, and not in a studio sound room; which isn't exactly the best place for recording.. so please forgive the equalization/poor acoustics. All of the video was shot for the sole purpose of this contest; and was captured with a simple digital camera, a Canon SD1100.
I have no professional audio engineering training whatsoever. I bought this preamp a little over a year ago and have fallen in love with the recording process. NO outside help was used for ANY part of this production. The vocals were recorded on a ONE time run through and received no editing for pitch adjustment or mistakes. She's just a beautiful singer and I'm really proud of the job Alyssa did on this track.
I've been playing guitar three years, and the violin 12. Alyssa, having played the piano 15 years provided us that that. I provided the drums, bass guitar, violin, guitar, etc.

Taylor, thanks for everything you've given us and the music industry, Alyssa and I both love your music and you're an inspiration to musicians everywhere. We both hope that you'll enjoy the effort we've put forth in your contest and would love you to choose our video as the winner :). Alyssa and I would love more than anything to meet you and score some awesome seats to one of your upcoming shows. It would be an honor for Alyssa and myself if you'd find us the best out of an admirable showing of other contestants. I've spent a lot of money that I didn't have over the last few years to buy the equipment I have and use, none of it new and all of it on ebay. I've stretched my budget pretty thin and I'd be excited to earn a gift card to purchase some new recording gadgets.
