Stuttgart, Germany, June 2009: The best and brightest automotive minds of the 21st Century convened at the 21st International Technical Conference on the Enhanced Safety of Vehicles (ESV) to present the latest and most innovative technologies for automotive safety.
The largest and most important global congress on vehicle safety attracted approximately 800 participants including engineers, designers, and executives from 24 countries on all five continents.
Among the highlights of the ESV was the Mercedes-Benz unveiling of the ESF 2009 an experimental safety vehicle with trailblazing innovations including: inflatable metallic sections to afford more stability to structural components within fractions of a second, and a Braking Bag housed within the vehicle floor and more.
The ESF 2009, based on the Mercedes S 400 HYBRID, is the first Experimental Safety Vehicle to be built by Mercedes-Benz since 1974.

Tuesday, June 23, 2009: An estimated 150 cities across America participated in World Olympic Day 2009 - a celebration for youth worldwide to observe the birth of the Modern Olympics games and the Olympic values of Fair-play, Perseverance, Respect, and Sportsmanship.
A wide array of Olympic style events took place around the United States featuring former and current Olympic athletes, young people, local citizens of all ages, Olympic hopefuls, city officials, and amateur athletes to name a few.
Mayors countrywide proclaimed Tuesday as Olympic Day in their respective locales. The U.S.O.C. (United States Olympic Committee) celebrates Olympic Day annually with events at the U.S. Olympic Training Centers and official training sites, as well as coordinating activities with sport National Governing Bodies and affiliated multi-sport organizations.

Abril 2009: Todo es verde en Hollywood! Con la atencion de America ahora en la responsabilidad ambiental y viabilidad enconomica, algunas de las estrellas mas reconozidas del entretenimiento estas enseñando su apoyo por el Dia de la Tierra y mucho mas alla manejando automobiles que no dejan huellas de carbon, contaminen o derrochan energia.
Limosinas que tragaban gasolina fueron reemplazadas por Chevy Equinox Fuel Cell Hydrogen SUVs, vehiculo que emite solo vapor de agua como fue visto en la premier de la mas reciente pelicula de Disney Earth en Los Angeles.
Los vehiculos para el premier son parte de Project Driveway de Chevy un programa donde celebridades y al igual que la persona comun estan probando los carros de fuel cell. Mas de 100 vehiculos fuel cell en condiciones de manejo estan en la Ciudad de Nueva York, Washington DC, y el sur de California. Conductores estan proveyendo a ingenieros de GM y cientificos muy invaluable informacion como la critica de una pelicula o un concierto para determina los proximos pasos en la evolucion del verdadero carro verde. Project Driveway es el proyecto mas grande en la historia que pone vehiculos fuel cell en carreteras para uso diario.

April 2009, Fontana, California: At Shell Oil Companys 2009 Shell Eco-marathon Americas competition at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California, innovation and fuel efficiency was the name of the game!
This year the Eco-marathon attracted 44 teams (representing 29 universities and 6 high schools) from North and South America, representing Brazil, Canada, Mexico and the United States. A guest team from India also fielded an entry in the competition.
Participants designed vehicles in two categories: the Prototype Group, which includes cars with maximum technical creativity and minimal restrictions with regard to current automotive designs; and a new category, UrbanConcept Group", which includes vehicles closer in appearance and technology to current models and nearly road ready.
