to be honest , if u want study quran it must be in Arabic. there is alot of mistranslation trust me on this , its big issue in islam world and alot of ppl disagree about taking translated quran as for studying because it will mislead.
in another point, the quran came in the dark age and ignorance. mentioning the thoery of earth is orbit directly will make another issue beside beleiving in one god issue.
take for example Marshelo malbegy the portugaly man who said the earth is orbit first time ever.. no one beleived him and it become big issue.
the quran didnt want to trouble the ppl full of ignorance with alot of thoerys he just foucs on beleiveing in one god. and the facts of theorys will be indirectional to the ppl who have enough information to understand.

All that verse means is that they observed the gradual change in light as the day turned to night and the night turned to day.

My English version of the quran mentions the words "orbit" and "floating" when talking about the moon and the sun. WHY doesn't it mention these words when talking about the "earth" (which is mentioned 413 times)

"wrapping the night about the day and wrapping the day about the night,"
when i translate "Youkawr" in arabic to enlgish it say Wrapping i dont fully understand wrapping in english
but i will try explain "Youkawr" word in english , its mean half revolving
half revovling is night and the other half is sunlight , that cant not be in flat ground

So where does it mention that the earth is in orbit?

the collide may happen only if there is misunderstanding or mistranslated or scientific fact not completly right.
now ill give you example that prove the earth is orbit from Quran! ( خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ بِالْحَقِّ يُكَوِّرُ اللَّيْلَ عَلَى النَّهَارِ وَيُكَوِّرُ النَّهَارَ عَلَى اللَّيْلِ وَسَخَّرَ الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ كُلٌّ يَجْرِي لِأَجَلٍ مُسَمًّى أَلَا هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفَّارُ )سورة الزمر : 5
