About Me:

Margo Pinkerton, a.k.a. The Barefoot Contessa (a moniker she was given back in 1970, also TBC), got her first camera, a box Brownie, at age eight and has been photographing and traveling with a passion ever since.

She has been a location and stock photographer for advertising, corporate, travel, and outdoor clients for over 25 years. During that time, Margo has given numerous photo workshops and lectures and led many photo adventures, including canoe trips down National Wild and Scenic Rivers north of the Arctic Circle.

TBC loves the outdoors, from the mountains to the oceans and most everything in between. She's spent time in all 50 states, all but two (one the new one) territories in Canada, all but one state in Australia, and a host of other countries. Part of the fascination of travel for Margo is meeting new people and photographing their environment.

Her work has appeared in a plethora of calendars, coffee-table books, and magazines worldwide, including GEO and National Geographic Traveler.

Growing up in an artistic family that exposed her to the great museums and painters of the world has given Margo a unique insight into composition and beautiful, natural light.

She started Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures back in the early 80's when it was known as Barefoot Contessa Adventures. With her husband, Arnie Zann, and a good friend of theirs and fellow pro photographer, John Pagliuca, they teach people how to hone their eye, photography, imaging, and printing skills in great locations in the US and abroad.

It's a piece by Dave McKenna, a New Englander who was born in Rhode Island and moved to The Cape in Massachusetts with his family in the mid-60's. I love his jazz, and I thought this piece fit the bill. Glad you like it!

Hi Margo. I love these images even though I have seen several before. I also like the piano music in the background. Who is the pianist?

Your photographs are stunning!!! Truly inspiring. Makes me wish I had a camera and could cultivate some of that talent. I'll definitely refer friends to your site and suggest that they take your workshops.

Thanks, Harry! We did have a fun group, didn't we! Three of them are coming back for fall workshops.

By the way, you looked pretty good in the video!

Take care,

Outstanding video! This brings back fond memories from the workshop I took with you. I forwarded this video to several of my photographer friends and they are eager to sign up for a future tour.

Thanks, Cybele, for the nice comment. Yes, I was lucky meeting Cartier-Bresson. If you want to see the whole story about "My Meeting with Henri," go to my blog and look under April 11. You can link to the blog through our Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures website.

Take care,

TBC
