Screen Australia's IndiVision is designed to energise low-budget filmmaking in Australia and provide strategic professional development for talented filmmakers.
The IndiVision Production Fund can provide production investment of up to AU$1.25 million for a low-budget feature with a total budget of AU$2.5 million or less. The purpose of the funding is to develop the careers of talented Australian filmmakers.
The IndiVision Project Lab is a high-level hot house for professional Australian filmmakers developing low-budget feature films. The Lab provides strategic career development to Australian filmmakers. Each year top international filmmakers are invited as advisors to the lab. 2008 advisors included Christine Vachon, Laurence Coriat, and Vinca Wiedemann.

RE:"The real problem with the indie business isn't quality, but discipline. We have a generation of filmmakers who feel entitled to make personal films at studio prices.

Don't know how this is really relevant to most indie filmmakers in Australia. We don't have a studio system here and I have not met an indie filmmaker who has got to make a film with a "studio price". However, I do agree about valuing investment, and I think this will come as filmmakers continue to build a relationship with their audiences. It is through connecting with audiences that more commercial viable films will be made, which will hopefully lead to a diverse range of filmmkaers making a diverse slate of projects.

"The real problem with the indie business isn't quality, but discipline. We have a generation of filmmakers who feel entitled to make personal films at studio prices. If people in the indie world want to start making money again, they have to start treating their investment like a truly precious natural resource, not like Monopoly money. Discipline is not antithetical to art. The oldest and most consistently successful specialty division, Sony Pictures Classics, keeps making money because it resolutely, sometimes to a fault, never overspends on a film."

Things like Indi Vision is the way forward, more films made on lower budgets!

Three suggestions, darlings!
1) Move the AFC to Melbourne where the real talent is.
2) Get more vids of Rachel.
3) Change the color scheme of this channel.

Are you guys serious? Pink and lime green! Good vids tho.

This is the way forward for the AFC if they really want to help cash-strapped filmmakers.
Many of us can't afford the money to attend these sessions so the vids are great.
But lime green and pink? It's the ugliest channel on YouTube.
