Before you start you want to check how much RAM your Laptop 'supports' as this is the limit of how much RAM you are able to install.

When handling computer components try to avoid static this could damage components. Try to avoid wearing anything that can cause such static such as fleece tops, or jumper / pull overs. Discharging your self by touching a metal radiator before touching a component can also be a good idea if you don't have an anti-static wrist band (which isn't necessary). Do not use power screw drivers as the magnets in the motor can wipe data on hard drives when in close proximty. (less info)
