I don't think it was ever a question of can a afford or not. I am a Filipino & I understand the culture. For all I know, the guys are probably given the option to splurge the budget on grand accommodation, which they are not really used to back home, or split the money amongst themselves and bring home extra money for the family. Besides, the Filipino guys like to crowd amongst themselves, do things together and have fun even with the most stupid things. That's what bayanihan means to us.
