He was screaming in pain because he was using all his willpower not to explode killing everyone around him. The solar light was going directly to his muscles making him stronger. If it were have been done to someone like Superboy Prime or Zod who are evil they would have simply released the energy and killed everyone around. Superman being the hero his is didn't want to do that. By the way Tower of Babel also show how dimwitted Batman can be at times. I mean the guys is so smart yet he allowed Talia to get a hold of the protocols. Remember how the same thing happened with the OMAC Project and Max Lord. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Batman can't defeat Superman. All I'm saying is that it won't be easy and that it won't be all the time as people as Pantwearingdoom like to say.

No it only enhanced his senses, did not make him stronger, and if anything it made him weaker. If he truly was stronger he wouldnt have been screaming in pain or been incapacitated. Batman could have laid those plans easily for his fellow teammates, after all, he wouldnt make the plans if he didnt have the means to do so. His powers were weakened, as Batman knew would happen. Tower of Babel?? Do you remember what happened? The red Kryptonite turned Superman's skin transparent. It made him absorb more solar energy thus making him stronger. If Superman were evil he would have released all that energy and killed everyone around. Remember also that it was Talia Head and his organization who used those protocols.. Batman wouldn't never been able to use them by himself. The Dark Knight Returns is out of continuity. That character is not Superman. Frank Miller changed Superman's personality completely in order to make him fit in his story. Besides that Superman wasn't fighting at full power. Remember he took several nukes before the fight. The whole story was PIS driven. PIS= PLOT INDUCED STUPIDITY. You know a character forgetting his powers and acting stupidly to fit the plot of the story.

Because Batman is supermans friend. Though he acts all dark and brooding, he cares for Clark, and dont think he wouldnt feel anything if he had to kill him. Read the comic Tower Of Babel, and it shows just how easily Batman can defeat not just Superman, but the entire justice league. He knows their every weakness, their every flaw, and at anytime can use it. Lord knows he doesnt want to ever have to though, those are his comrades. Hes just doing a necessary evil in case they ever let their power go to their heads. Also look at the comic the Dark Knight Returns to see Batman beating Supes again.
