This video was filmed during the 1993 YVR Airline Expo which was an airline collectibles show held at the River Inn in May of that year. The show was organized by Henry Tenby with help from Glen Etchells and Mike Brown. Due to the recession that show was poorly attended with very few people spending money, to the chagrin of those attending as depicted in this clip, filmed by Henry Tenby. Due to poor attendance this was the last Vancouver Airline Expo show organized by Henry Tenby and friends. The following airline fans appear in this clip: Mike Brown, John Kimberley, Erik Johannesson, Glen Etchells, Gary Vincent, John Wegg, John Dekker, Frank Morton, Terry Waddington, Billy Stefanchuck, Alex McPhee, and Bob Surman.

Order DVD here: http://henrytenby.com/DVDs/Bristol2dv... Picking up from where the part I DVD left off, in 1994, Paul Hakwins and his colleagues took over the Terrace-based Bristol Freighter operation from their defunct employer, Trans-Provincial Airlines.
The majority Hawkairs work involved hauling between Bronson Creeks gravel airstrip and Wrangell in support of the Snipe Mine.
In addition to Bronson Creek action, this DVD also includes very interesting footage from the Mule Creek job during the summer of 1995, Bristol Freighter TPAs performance at the 1995 Terrace airshow, and Bristol Freighter DFCs UK performance at Heathrows 50th anniversary flypast.
The DVD also includes footage filmed at the Bob Quinn strip, some truly amazing low level footage with glorious engine roar filmed from the open rear cabin door, an amazing air-to-air photo shoot with Bristol TPA, and the interesting salvage of TPA after her very unfortunate landing accident at Bronson Creek in April, 1997.
The famous Thompson propliner airlift of March, 1998, and a flight on Bristol YQS up to St. Therese makes this a must-have DVD for serious propliner fans. This DVD is loaded with exterior footage, cockpit footage, lots of landing and take-off sequences, inflight engine footage, run-ups, flypasts, freight loading and more!

Order DVD here: http://henrytenby.com/DVDs/Bristol1dv... From 1989 until 1999, the wilds of Northwestern British Columbia was the setting for the worlds last working Bristol Freighter operation. Bristol Freighter Engineer Paul Hawkins had the good fortune of being able to extensively film Bristol Freighters C-FDFC and C-FTPA on the job with Terrace based Trans-Provincial Airlines.
In this DVD, we get a first hand look at the rigours of working the fifty year old Bristols between their Bronson Creek base camp and Wrangell in harsh winter conditions that often defied man, muscle and machine.
The Bristol crew worked out of make-shift quarters with maintenance performed in the elements often in below zero temperatures. Despite the conditions, spirits were always high and at the end of day, the job was always done.
This is a must have DVD for all serious round engine propliner fans. This DVD is jam-packed with exterior footage, cockpit footage, lots of landing and take-off sequences, inflight engine footage, run-ups, flypasts, freight loading and there is even some nice crew house and maintenance footage to give the full picture of life on the road with the worlds last Bristol Freighters.
DVD Programs Chapter 1) C-FTPA at Bronson Creek 12/4/92 Chapter 2) inflight to Wrangell Chapter 3) landing Wrangell 12/4/92 Chapter 4) low level back to Bronson Creek Chapter 5) top hatch valley view Chapter 6) another Wrangell landing Chapter 7) back to Bronson Creek Chapter 8) landing at Bronson Creek Chapter 9) taxi-in at Bronson Creek Chapter 10) C-FDFC at Terrace 12/22/92 Chapter 11) C-FDFC cold-soak Terrace 12/30/92 Chapter 12) C-FDFC flight to Bronson Creek Chapter 13) "Down the gut" approach to Bronson Creek Chapter 14) C-FDFC taxi-in at Bronson Creek Chapter 15) preflight at Wrangell 1/11/93 Chapter 16) back to Bronson Creek Chapter 17) C-FDFC flypast and landing at Bronson Creek Chapter 18) Wrangell landing 1/11/93 Chapter 19) Wrangell preflight 1/11/93 Chapter 20) back to Bronson Creek Chapter 21) C-FDFC flypasts at Bronson Creek Chapter 22) C-FDFC Bronson Creek landing Chapter 23) Bristol maintenance Chapter 24) C-FDFC Bronson Creek take-off Chapter 25) last Trans-Provincial Airlines Bristol Freighter flights Chapter 26) Wrangell landing 1/14/93 Chapter 27) C-FTPA runups 4/17/93 Chapter 28) Bronson Creek operations winter 1994/1995 Chapter 29) loading C-FTPA at Bronson Creek Chapter 30) DVD previews

Like no other book ever printed in the history of commercial aviation, this unique and beautifully presented all colour volume features some 200 eyeball-popping air-to-air images of classic propliners and classic jetliners taken aloft by the great air-to-air photo masters of the late 20th century, including Stephen Piercey, Paul Duffy, Bob Shane, Ron Kosys, Chris Mak, Henry Tenby, Chuck Stewart Jr. and many others.
This book is loaded with air-to-air beauties of Bristol Britannias, Boeing 707s and DC-8s, Convairs, Electras, DC-3s and many other fabulous classic airliners. Fascinating captions and an indepth introduction reveal the challenges of this unique and admired artform.
You can order your copy of this exciting book right now by clicking the appropriate "Add to Cart" order button at the bottom of this page.
Customer and Reviewer Comments:
Besides the mainline equipment from the Sixties through the Nineties, (this book features) classics including the Curtiss C-46 Commando, Douglas DC-3, DC-4, DC-6, DC-7, Lockheed Constellation and Electra plus the L-100 Hercules, Martin 404, Convair-Liner (in various forms), Bristol Britannia, Vickers Viscount and Vanguard, and a variety of 'bush' types. Captions are extensive and informative, often including details of the photography session such as location and crew names, chase plane, as well as revealing how the shot was captured. For a very modest price, here is a treasure trove of excellent and unusual colour photography of airliners from around the world. Henry Tenby has put together a book far greater than the limitations of its compact landscape format would imply. It provides 171 air-to-air studies of post-war classic propliners and jet airliners with fascinating captions relating why, how, and where the image was taken. Read assiduously, the content is worthy of close scrutiny wherein lie many lessons for erstwhile aspirants to the magic arts of real photography. Picked up a nice little book today at the Aviation MegaStore near Amsterdam IAP, "Air-to-Air" by Henry Tenby. The book opens with a dedication to Stephen Piercey, a good start, and a clue for the content: a massive amount of propliners and OldJets. Besides loads of photographs, the captions are very informative and bring back memories to airlines and thier hardware plus we get to know some ace air-to-air photographers as well. With a modest price, you cannot go wrong with this one in my opinion. Just to make sure, as a disclaimer, I have no interest in the book nor the author. Ruud Leeuw, www.RuudLeeuw.com website
The book is a lovely little production: good photos, great captions: informative yet no-nonsense, well-designed binding and cover and an accessible price point. Very well-done! Brenda Roberts, Librarian, Ottawa Public Library
Excellent photos and information. Could't get any better of an air-air book. Great Piercey salute! David Hartman, Sharpsburg, GA, USA
Photos in the book cover a wide range of aircraft types with something to suit all tastes from the DHC Beavers and Otters through the classic piston and turboprop airliners to the modern jetliner. One is taken up close and personal with floatplanes, Catalina amphibians and DC3's over Canadian lakes and tundra, then one is flown alongside the big propliners as they pose for the photographers chase-plane often against a background of dramatic scenery. There is a good Irish connection with a nice selection from the camera of the late Paul Duffy including a Cuban Ilyushin 18 and a couple of Antonov An26¹s. Also from Paul¹s collection some of those well remembered Aer Turas aircraft including a lovely shot of CL44 EI-BRP as it descends on finals to RW24 at Dublin. Malcolm Nason, Irish Air Letter, Ireland
I have just received your Air to air book. Some great pictures in there. What I particularly like about it is the same as you mentioned is that it also tells the story of how the picture was taken, how it was arranged and what the chase plane was. Well done. Ian Haskell, Hampshire, UK
Book arrived today and is excellent. It should be an annual publication. I will recommend it to some friends in Seattle and Toulouse. Good to see some of Paul Duffy's work in print, and Tony Hickey's. Antoin Daltun, Baile Atha Cliath, Ireland
It must be nearly Christmas, as a lovely surprised just dropped through the mail in the form of your Air-to-air book. Just lovely, with many shots I recognise there by many people I know. Adrian Balch, Swindon, UK

In the summer of 1967, flower power was in full swing across Europe, and the hit movie that memorable summer was "The Graduate" starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft.
The Aer Lingus promo film "Shamrocks Sky High" played in Irish cinemas along with "The Graduate" to promote the airlines dedicated and highly trained staff, latest aircraft (Boeing 707s, BAC One Elevens and new 737s), first class maintenance and crew training facilities, cutting edge computer reservation systems, and the development of the Irish travel industry in the go-go days of the booming jet age.
This film features plenty of wonderful aircraft footage filmed from Dublins packed observation decks, airside, as well as inflight and onboard, and a fair number of lucky Aer Lingus employees appear in the film, which truly counts as an airline history classic to be watched over and over again.
The second Aer Lingus promotional film highlights the Popes historic 1980 visit to Ireland, and the important role played by Aer Lingus in carrying the Pope from Rome to Ireland, and then on to Boston. Much of the film is about the Popes visits to various Irish locations, and the logistics involved. A special thank you to Aer Lingus for allowing us to present these special films on this DVD.
DVD Programs Chapter 1) Aer Lingus Vickers Viscount training (B&W) (3 minutes) Chapter 2) Shamrocks Sky High (colour 1967) (27 minutes) Chapter 3) Pope visit to Ireland (colour 1980) (20 minutes) Chapter 4) End Credits
