Peter F. Dorman was named president of the American University of Beirut (AUB) on March 21, 2008. A respected scholar with deep and strong personal roots in Lebanon and the Middle East, Dorman who was born at the American University Hospital returned to the land of his birth to become AUBs 15th president on July 1, 2008. He is the great-great-grandson of the Universitys founder, the Reverend Daniel Bliss.
The American University of Beirut celebrated the formal inauguration of Dr. Peter F. Dorman as its 15th president on May 3-4, 2009. The theme of the inauguration, Toward an Abundant Life, reflects AUBs historic role in the education of generations of men and women in the Middle East. The events that took place in May were intended to highlight AUB as an institution that promotes liberal arts education in the Middle East and to encourage the members of the university community to reflect about the challenges AUB faces both today and in the future.

The mission of ACC is to promote the use of teaching and learning technologies at AUB. Since 2002, ACC organizes yearly faculty seminars in which AUB instructors demonstrate how they are using various technology tools to supplement and enrich their classroom meetings. These events give the instructors an opportunity to share their experience and expertise with their colleagues as well as with AUB administrators.
