In 2008 ACCESS was honored as one of the five recipients of this special award. The Kellogg Foundation recognized ACCESS for outstanding commitment to the communities through our efforts to breakdown barriers of communication and cultural differences.
The National Leadership in Action Award honors those who try new innovative approaches to connecting all possible resources with knowledge to their philanthropic work. All of the award winners were nominated by their peers and chosen from a committee of nonprofit and philanthropic leaders from across the United States. Each of the five recipients will be recognized at local award receptions along with a unique commissioned piece of art from emerging young artists throughout the fall of 2008.
ACCESS was also a grantee of the Kellogg Cultures of Giving program for working on strengthening philanthropic efforts in the Arab American Community. The Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP), formerly the Collaborative for Arab American Philanthropy, is the only program in the country harnessing the collective power of Arab American giving. It works to provide the knowledge to strengthen the voice of our community in American civil society.
