Titles RARELY change in dark matches. Never do the WWE title or heavyweight change so if the dark match is for the title you know it will end in dq most likely or the title holder will win.
I think the dark matches are really important for them because that's where they practice intricate move sequences and possible endings for matches. I went to a house show the night before the Royal Rumble and the next night during the PPV I saw match endings and moves that I had seen the night before at the house show. If a particular ending to a dark match gets a bad reaction from the crowd, they most likely won't use on TV. If it gets a good reaction, then chances are that you will see it used on TV in the near future.
I'm not sure if I'm 100% correct but that's the most logical reason I can give based on what I've seen.
