The last 45 seconds of standard analog service from WMYV 48 on February 17, 2009, followed by the transition to Nightlight service.
WXLV 45 (Winston-Salem, NC, ABC) and WMYV 48 (Greensboro, NC, MyNetwork), both owned by Sinclair, were permitted by the FCC to shut down their over-the-air analog television service on Feb. 17, 2009 at 11:59pm, ahead of the recently extended final deadline of June 12, 2009. However, both stations qualified for Nightlight status, so instead of powering down at the moment of truth, the analog signals were suddenly switched to a brief NAB public service Nightlight video explaining the digital transition. (I cut the bulk of the NAB video so I could get the highlights into one file; the full NAB Nightlight video is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =MXvA2IYAyt8 ).
After the ID card was a Spanish Nightlight video (this time with English subtitles), and later on with an interpreter using American Sign Language. These videos will play in a continuous loop on both channels for the next 30 days (barring emergencies), after which their OTA analog signals will go dark forever. This makes 45 and 48 the first broadcast channels in the Piedmont Triad market to go digital-only.
Update 2/18: Jerseyman4 completes the "set" with the WXLV switchoff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =kZXkc2j3bQk
