About Me:
MC MAGICO
Currently a Student at the SAE Institute In London studying (BA In Recording Arts) Magico has just successfully accomplished an (Audio Engineering Diploma) at the SAE, he now focusses on song Writing and Music Production which Are Some Of His Main Interests ...
MC Magico was born in Cali, Colombia ("la capital de la salsa") but raised
as a youth on the streets of West London. This 25 year old rapper/singer has two loves - Salsa brava (old school Salsa) and hip-hop! One of the first Latino MCs in the UK,
he started out with MC Indio Lyrico and DJ Loco in a project called Sonido Callejero, "The sound of the ghetto", around 6 years ago.
This soon became La Raza, the first Reggaeton crew to really capture the hearts and minds of London young Latinos. With DJ Loco on the beats and Magico on the mic, they soon had a couple of club hits with their songs "Vibration" and "Tracionera". These two tracks were licensed to "Reggaeton Sessions" (Union Square) Colombian top record label Discos Fuentes.
As Reggaeton peaked in the UK in summer 2005, with Daddy Yankee at number 1 worldwide with "Gasolina", La Raza were soon everywhere - club sessions, magazines, radio sessions, festivals! including MTV show "BARRIO 19"
Then suddenly at the end of that year, they broke up. Magico cites the
negative lyrical content of much Reggaeton and Latin hip-hop as one reason
plus a desire to pursue solo material and collaborate with other musicians.
Since then, this year MC Magico has recorded two singles with BASEMENT JAXX one then called " Shake up " and the other "Wheel and stop" a project already out in vinyl for sale...! also he has featured as guest MC on a remix track by Supafly / under 2AM Productions called "Lets Get Down" on the (Universal Records) compilation "Urban Heat".
He is also guest on pianist Alex Wilson "Inglaterra" CD (2006) on the Salsa-ton track "Sube Lo", which he co-wrote. In early 2007, Magico produced a whole library album called 'Latin urban' with Alex Wilson for the Library music publishers company West One Music, some of the songs from the (Latin urban) album have been featured on Uk TV programs like: "How to look good naked" and "Sweet Sixteen" At 25, he is not doing to bad.
NOW! Causing a storm on the UK Latin music scene born and raised in Cali, Colombia up to the age of 14 and then moved to the UK.
MC Magico represents the multicultural diversity of the UK and the new sound of Latin music fusing the sounds of his homeland with the influences of the UK urban music scene as well as other musical styles including Latin Jazz, Salsa, Bachata, Reggaeton, Bashment, Hip-Hop and Ballads.
Quickly became club favorites amongst the London Latin Community building a firm following for the new style which is so quickly taking over the commercial market. It also formed an integral part to the way Magico was to develop his new ideas.
Magico is now currently working on his Debut solo album So be sure to keep an eye out coz there is a new sound coming your way and you better be ready...
Kind Regards
