John Callas was born in Greece in the small village of Gastouni as Yannis Kaloyeropoulos. He attended the music Conservatory in Athens, studying classical guitar with Dimitris Fampas, music theory with Michalis Vourtsis and flute with Stella Gathethi. In 1975 John joined the national public radio station, ERT, as a radio broadcaster. In 1995, he realized his dream when he produced his first album, MORE THAN PEOPLE THEMSELVES, I LOVED THEIR SONGS, with lyrics by Kuriakos Doumos, Nina Naxnia and Kostas Lazaris. Joining John in performing on the record was Kostas Karalis. After John and his family moved to USA in 1995, John set out to develop a second production, a CD featuring instrumental music. The result is SOUNDS OF MY HEART, produced in 1999. When he was working as a radio broadcaster John composed music for documentaries: P. ELLIS, 1984; MAKING OF HONEY, 1985; and PALEONTOLOGY, 1995.
